Verizon sure took its sweet time to get on board with Samsung Pay, but earlier this month, the big red carrier finally said that it would support Samsung’s mobile payments service. Now it looks like Verizon has started the process of rolling support out to its compatible Samsung phones.
Verizon’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge support pages have both been updated to show that they’re now getting updates that include “Android security patches” — aka Stagefright patches — as well as support for Samsung Pay. Interestingly, it looks like this update doesn’t actually include the Samsung Pay app, because Verizon says that “customers can download and install the Samsung Pay app once it is available in the Google Play store.”
