Google Inc. on Monday said M is for Marshmallow.
The company revealed the new name for the next Android operating system, which it had been referring to as Android M.
Google is known for its sweet tooth in naming its operating systems, beginning with Cupcake, through frozen treat predecessors Froyo and Ice Cream Sandwich, through the alphabet to Marshmallow’s predecessor Lollipop. Marshmallow beat other “m” sweets such as milkshake, moonpie and malt balls, mocha, madeleine, macaroon and the most obvious: M&M.
