Singapore technology company Oaxis designed a smartphone for young children called myFirst Fone. Children wear it around their wrists like a watch so their parents know their location and can remain in contact. The wearer can can make and receive video and phone calls like a regular smartphone; however, only approved numbers can contact the device.

To keep it compact, Oaxis did not give the watch a keyboard, so when the child wishes to reply to text messages they have to respond through a voice memo or use emojis. myFirst Fone connects to an app that lets the parents monitor their child’s location, receive SOS notifications if their child needs them and listen in on the device’s built-in microphone.
