Apple to diversify from Samsung for flexible, foldable iPhone OLED display supplies

Back in February, Bloomberg sources reported that Apple is exploring a partnership with the largest Chinese screen maker, BOE, on potential OLED screen development. At the time, BOE didn’t have significant OLED-making capabilities, but now Korean sources tip that the yield situation might be changing. Apparently, BOE is prepping investments in Apple-exclusive production lines for both flexible and “foldable” OLED panels.

Needless to say, the products that roll off the conveyor belts will need to be checked for quality and consistency by Apple, before we see BOE screens cut to fit the next notch-y iPhone XI and XI Plus, or whatever Apple names them, but the sheer fact that BOE may have decided to go ahead with such a huge investment, is pretty telling.
