Political ads put Twitter, Facebook and Google in a bind. Here’s why

Joe Biden’s presidential campaign was furious with Facebook when the social network allowed his rival to run a political attack ad it said was filled with lies. Biden’s campaign wasn’t happy with Twitter and Google, either.

In a 30-second video it created last year, President Donald Trump’s campaign stated the former vice president had promised Ukraine $1 billion if the country fired a prosecutor investigating a company tied to Biden’s son. The video, like many political ads, included authentic but carefully edited clips that created the impression Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee, had pressured Ukrainian officials to help his son, a charge that’s been debunked by fact-checking groups and media reports.
