Google quietly adds Play Store fingerprint authentication for Nexus 5X and 6P

In addition to a pretty significant redesign, and a few minor tweaks to user ratings and Android Wear-compatible apps, it seems the Google Play Store now supports one-touch payment fingerprint authentication.

You’d think the newly integrated feature would deserve some fanfare, given how aggressively device manufacturers have plugged their fingerprint scanners of late, but not only has Google kept this under wraps until actually enabling it. It’s even deactivated by default on the Marshmallow-based Nexus 5X and 6P, and you have to jump through hoops to turn it on.
