Apple’s China hopes are looking up after a solid Q2 and the upcoming 5G iPhone 12 launch

Following Q2 2020 smartphone shipment reports highlighting the mobile industry’s struggles in key global markets like India and the US, it shouldn’t be surprising to also see China’s numbers declining during that same period.

But while the world’s largest smartphone market was affected like no other between January and March by the coronavirus pandemic, its recovery was also faster than the encouraging signs noticed stateside towards the end of the year’s second quarter. As such, China’s smartphone sales scores actually increased by 9 percent from the first three months of 2020, which was however not enough to stave off a pretty substantial year-on-year drop.
