Twitter rumored to stop counting photos and links toward 140-character limit on tweets

Twitter’s been making some big changes to its service as of late, including dropping the 140 character limit on Direct Messages and an algorithmic timeline that aims to show you tweets that it thinks you’ll care most about first. Now a new rumor claims that Twitter is cooking up another big change.

A source speaking to Bloomberg says that Twitter will soon stop counting photos and links toward the 140-character limit on tweets. Links currently use up 23 characters in a tweet, so that’ll free up a good chunk of space in your future tweets.
