Not our usual camera showdown, but the folks at Oppo describe the new F1 Plus as a “selfie expert” phone. While rear mounted cameras are usually higher quality, and are the preferred tools for most people when we discuss mobile content creations, we can’t deny the selfie phenomenon. There’s a distinct smartphone consumer who might never use that rear camera, but depends on a front camera to capture their important moments.
The F1 Plus is a curious beast for us smartphone camera snobs. The rear camera is a fairly traditional 13MP shooter, but the front camera is a 16MP monster capable of capturing 1080p video. Of course, more resolution doesn’t always make for a better camera, but the folks at Oppo were confident the F1 Plus could unseat current selfie camera solutions from top tier manufacturers.
