The explosion in online delivery services has created a new problem for cash-rich, time-poor people who prefer to outsource their shopping, cleaning, cooking and even dog-walking to “on demand” apps — the dreaded missed delivery.
August, the start-up behind a mobile-enabled “smart lock”, is launching a new suite of products that will allow absent homeowners to automatically allow couriers and cleaners through their front doors, using apps such as Postmates, Handy and Shyp, as well as more established domestic services companies such as Sears.
