According to recent rumors, Samsung is about to announce two new high-end Android tablets that will succeed last year’s Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5. The new slates will probably be called Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and Galaxy Tab S2 9.7. We already saw a few renders that allegedly showed the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 (model number SM-T815), and now it’s time to take a look at the Tab S2 8.0 (model number SM-T715).

Approved today by China’s Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center (also known as TENAA), the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 sports an 8-inch AMOLED display with 1536 x 2048 pixels and a 4:3 aspect ratio, weighs 260 grams, and measures 198.2 x 134.5 x 5.4 mm. At just 5.4 mm, the Tab S2 8.0 should become the world’s thinnest tablet, but we’ll just have to wait for Samsung to officially announce the device before giving it this title.
