Ruckus Wireless is adding new Wi-Fi onboarding software to its product portfolio through the acquisition of Cloudpath Networks. And with the acquisition, Ruckus has added Cloudpath’s certificate-based Wi-Fi security and onboarding capabilities to its Smart Wi-Fi products.
Cloudpath’s secure Wi-Fi onboarding technology emerged in 2006 as a common entry point for devices connecting to wireless networks. According to the press release, its greatest successes have been in the education space, but there are also uses for enterprises, particularly when it comes to the “set it and forget it” nature of adding new devices to the corporate network.
