Black Friday Phone Deals: What You Need to Know

October 29, 2021

Category:

The most awaited shopping day of the year is almost here, and retailers everywhere are already getting the word out about their upcoming deals. The COVID-19 pandemic is bound to change both the plans and shopping habits for American companies and customers for a second year. However, that does not necessarily mean that Black Friday will disappear altogether in 2021, nor does it mean that phone sales will drop. In fact, with retail sales up 0.7% in September, shopping for new items and devices seems to be more important than ever.

Nevertheless, several things are different when celebrating the biggest shopping day of the year during a global healthcare crisis. Firstly, supply chain delays are an important issue, and many retailers have already started to extend Black Friday over several weeks or even months. In response, customers fearing delays could prevent them from buying their favorite brands and products have already started their holiday shopping. Even though some people will hold off on buying new phones or gadgets until the real Black Friday begins, customers should also consider keeping an eye on earlier Black Friday phone deals.

Early Black Friday Deals

Amazon has already started its “Black Friday-worthy” deals in an attempt to hook early holiday shoppers. Starting in October, the company that has long dominated the online retail market will offer discounts across different categories, including fashion, home, beauty, toys, electronics, Amazon Devices, and many others. Amazon will feature new deals on its website daily, and the good news is that smartphones are included. In fact, Motorola smartphones are already available on Amazon at discounts of up to 30%, while top devices like Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 are also available at a small price cut.

Alternatively, customers can buy the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 starting at $349.99 on Samsung’s own website, with an eligible trade-in. The Galaxy Z Flip3 is available in a Bespoke Edition, made with a resistant yet stylish aluminum frame. This offers better protection, as users can now unfold their phones and focus on important things with few or no worries. According to Samsung, the front and back covers of this new edition are also made of the toughest glass used for the Galaxy Z line. However, for those who fail to see the appeal of a phone that folds to fit small-sized pockets, Samsung is probably already preparing other deals.

What to Expect Next

Black Friday falls on November 26, and although deals are sure to appear much earlier this year, some customers might decide to postpone buying new devices at least until November. Samsung usually lowers the cost of some devices on and around Black Friday, which could mean better offers from Samsung.com, Best Buy, and Amazon, while carrier deals on Samsung phones are yet to come.

Motorola is another manufacturer that usually features deals for its smartphones on Black Friday, but it typically focuses on the more affordable devices. While it’s no surprise that the two brands were a large part of Amazon’s “Black Friday-worthy” deals, their best deals are probably ahead of us.

Unlike Samsung and Motorola, Apple does not usually offer substantial discounts on its iPhone devices on Black Friday, with the exception of older models. While there will probably be no significant deal on the new iPhone 13 Series in November, the iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and iPhone SE could all get some discounts. However, customers might find a better deal on an iPhone through a carrier: Verizon is already boasting big trade-ins, free iPhone 13s, and other deals, while Mint Mobile offers free plan months for new customers with iPhones. Additionally, both new and loyal customers can enjoy iPhone deals at AT&T, while Walmart offers special discounts on iPhones, as well as various prepaid options.

Black Friday is almost here, and that means both flagship phones and more affordable devices will probably go on sale soon. With giant retailers like Amazon already starting sales, customers are also expected to begin their holiday shopping earlier than usual this year. Some shoppers may ultimately decide to hold off buying a new phone until November, while others are already looking for the best deal. No matter the decision they make in the end, one thing remains certain: there are plenty of deals on the market.
