A new social media platform named Dusk, designed for creating and playing multiplayer games, has successfully raised $8 million in a recent funding round. This platform, created by Bjarke Felbo and Sanjay Guruprasad, the developers behind the PUBG and Call of Duty Mobile companion app Rune, aims to offer a unified space for game development, marketing, and social interaction. The funding round was led by Makers Fund and byFounders, with contributions from notable figures like PocketGems’ Ben Liu, King’s Thomas Hartwig, and Kamkord’s Adi Rathnam. Currently in its beta stage, Dusk features a collection of 50 games across various genres and has already seen significant user engagement, with over 50 million minutes of in-app voice chat recorded.

The founders envision Dusk as a revolutionary platform for social multiplayer gaming, tailored to the preferences of Gen Z, who favor casual, phone-based games that can be played while socializing via voice chat. Sanjay Guruprasad, Dusk’s co-founder and CEO, expressed that existing platforms are more suited for hardcore PC and console gamers, whereas Dusk targets a newer, more casual mobile gaming audience. This funding demonstrates investor confidence in Dusk’s vision to transform mobile social gaming. Investors, such as Ryann Lai from Makers Fund, believe that the future of groundbreaking social applications lies in gaming. They are optimistic about Dusk’s potential to empower new creators and reshape social gaming with its voice-first, group-hangout format.
